The Institute of Ismaili Studies
The Institute of Ismaili Studies was established in 1977 with the object of promoting scholarship and learning of Muslim cultures and societies. The Institute’s academic programmes encourage a perspective that is not confined to the theological and religious heritage of Islam, but seeks to explore the relationship of religious ideas to broader dimensions of society and culture. Particular attention is also given to issues of modernity that arise as Muslims seek to relate their heritage to contemporary circumstances.
Research Associate in Shi i Studies
(London based)
We invite applications for the position of Research Associate in the Department of Academic Research and Publications. The successful applicant will undertake research in the area of Shi i studies, contribute to publications and teach in the postgraduate programmes at the Institute. Applicants must have a PhD qualification and a good command of the Arabic language (spoken and written) is essential. Command of the Persian language is desirable, but not essential.
The successful candidate will be expected to have a record of publications in Shi i, Islamic or Middle Eastern Studies and post doctoral research and teaching experience.
